**Summary:**

1. **Two AMPEX 1-inch open reel tapes** containing a 1982 lecture by computer science pioneer Admiral Grace Hopper have been located in the NSA’s archives.

2. **The lecture, titled “Future Possibilities: Data, Hardware, Software, and People,”** remains inaccessible as the NSA claims it lacks the technology to play back the obsolete format.

3. **Efforts to access the recordings** highlight the broader issue of preserving technological heritage, with advocates urging the NSA to find a way to retrieve and share this valuable piece of history.
