AI agents are everywhere now — but finding one you can actually **trust and run** is still a mess of scattered GitHub repos and dead links. 🤔

So I built **AgentLane** — an open-source, people-first marketplace to _discover, compare, verify, and actually start using_ AI agents. →

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🧩 **What it does for you**

├─ 🔎 **Find** agents for coding, research, automation, data & productivity
├─ ⚖ **Compare** frameworks, setup difficulty, license, stars & health status
├─ 🔬 **Inspect** the original GitHub source _before_ you install
├─ 🖥 **Test** local + **Ollama** -friendly workflows
├─ 📦 **Build** shareable collections & workflows
├─ 📈 **Discover** trending agents + weekly picks
└─ 👥 **Follow** creators and share your own agent projects

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

💡 **The point:** stop _searching_ for AI agents and start _using_ them — vetted, source-visible, and ready to drop into a real workflow.

Good agents deserve a better home than a repository list.

This nails a real pain point — the “30 bookmarked agent repos, half of them archived” loop is exactly why I stopped trusting awesome-lists. Two things I’d want a directory like this to get right:

1. Freshness over stars. A repo with 5k stars and no commits in nine months is a liability when the agent is supposed to run unattended. For this category, a health/freshness signal matters more than raw popularity, and comparing those two side by side would already set AgentLane apart.

2. Behaviour over pitch. Most listings just echo the README. Even a standardised five-step smoke test (install → run → one tool call → one file write → one error path) would make a “verified” badge mean something real.

The inspect-source-before-install feature is the standout for me. Agents execute code on your behalf, so the directory that treats trust as the product — not the list — is the one that earns a place in an actual workflow.

The inspect-before-install feature is what sold me on this. So many agent repos look fine until you actually read the code and find hardcoded keys or abandoned dependencies. Being able to compare frameworks side by side would have saved me an entire weekend last month. Curious how the trending picks are decided though — community votes or some kind of scoring system?
