# Caret Lifetime license trick !!!

- Download the official app from [Caret](https://caret.io/)
- Install the application
- Open it once and close
- Goto **C:\Users\\<UserName\>\AppData\Roaming\Caret\electron-cache**
- Open **license** file with notepad, remove everything and paste

```json
{"key":"MAXIMUM-EFFORT","username":"DEADPOOL"}

```

- You can put anything in key and username 😅😅
- Open caret again go to **Menu-\>Help** and check for yourself

Thanks for the post **liV3**. Just one question which files edit on Linux as the **electron-cache** isnt there? or is there a trick for Linux?

Ofcourse linux has entire different file-system/architecture.  
My guess would be **~/.config/Caret/electron-cache**
