# 🖱️ Cursor Pro, free — one week, no student email needed

### 🎟 Cursor Pro, free — one week, no student email

**What it is:** a free online hack week that Cursor is partnering on. Sign up, and they email you a **Cursor Pro code**. No student email, no `.edu`, no school check — it is open to anybody.

**Three steps**

1. [Sign up for the hack week](https://events.mlh.com/events/14553-global-hack-week-open-source) — free, online, runs **October 9–15**. It is run by Major League Hacking, the crew behind student hackathons worldwide, and [their own page](https://ghw.mlh.com/) says it is _“free for anyone, anywhere”_.
2. Watch your inbox — the **Cursor Pro code arrives by email**. [The challenge page](https://www.mlh.com/challenges/01a11d20-ae76-fc13-f55f-3f3158847e88)
3. Install Cursor, redeem the code in Billing, then **switch the plan to Pro**.

**🤔 The step people skip:** redeeming is only half of it. The account has to be switched to **Pro in Billing & Invoices** , or the credits sit unused.
