# 🎙 ElevenLabs Starter for $1 — 30,000 credits, cloning, dubbing and the commercial licence

**The offer, as it stands** — the **Starter plan is $1 for the first month** instead of $6, and the month brings **30,000 shared credits** , instant voice cloning, the multilingual dubbing studio, text-to-speech, speech-to-text, sound effects, the image and video tools, and the commercial licence on eligible content. 🎁

**Students** — verify once through the student route and you get **3 months free**.

**No student card? The same voices without paying** — [Chatterbox](https://github.com/resemble-ai/chatterbox) (MIT, and it beat ElevenLabs in about 65% of blind listening tests) · [Kokoro](https://github.com/hexgrad/kokoro) (Apache) · [Piper](https://github.com/rhasspy/piper) (MIT) · [sherpa-onnx](https://github.com/k2-fsa/sherpa-onnx) runs them on a phone.

**The fine print that saves money** — the free tier is **10,000 credits a month with no commercial licence**. The dollar month is the cheapest way to a commercial desk; the MIT and Apache engines above are commercial-safe forever. ✅

**What people use it for** — 🎬 voiceover for a faceless channel · 📚 an audiobook · 🌍 one clip dubbed into 29 languages · 🎮 game and mod lines · 🧑‍🏫 course narration.
