**Summary:**

* * *

1. **New Trial**
France is launching a trial ban on mobile phones for students up to 15 years old in about 200 secondary schools. The goal is to give kids a “digital pause” by requiring them to hand in their phones upon arrival.

2. **Previous Law vs. New Trial**
The trial goes beyond the 2018 law that restricted phone use on school premises but allowed students to keep their phones. If successful, the new ban could be implemented nationwide from January.

3. **Health Concerns**
The move follows a report highlighting the negative effects of excessive screen time on children’s health, including issues with sleep, physical activity, and weight.
