I have access to Turnitin because of my old school. If you feel comfortable enough to share your paper to me here publicly, I’ll screenshot your similarity score. If not I get it, but I’ve been where you are and I just wanna help if I can.

Urgent + must be 100% free — got you. No “free trial then $30” traps below. Every link is genuinely free, and I split it into **check my paper** vs **write/find sources** so you grab what you need in 10 seconds.

Run your paper through **two** checkers, not one — each free tool crawls a different slice of the web, so two passes catch what one misses. 🎯

> **📋 Paste-and-go checkers (free, no card)**
>
> - Scribbr — most accurate free one in blind tests — [https://www.scribbr.com/plagiarism-checker/](https://www.scribbr.com/plagiarism-checker/)
> - PapersOwl — no word limit — [https://papersowl.com/free-plagiarism-checker](https://papersowl.com/free-plagiarism-checker)
> - Quetext — clean colour-coded report — [https://www.quetext.com/](https://www.quetext.com/)
> - DupliChecker — free up to 1,000 words — [https://www.duplichecker.com/](https://www.duplichecker.com/)
> - SmallSEOTools — shows every matched source link — [https://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/](https://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/)

> **♾️ No word cap ever — run the engine yourself**
>
> These are the open-source engines the paid tools are built on. Free forever, you run them (mainly for code/assignments, but no limits):
>
> - MOSS (Stanford) — [https://theory.stanford.edu/~aiken/moss/](https://theory.stanford.edu/~aiken/moss/)
> - JPlag — [https://github.com/jplag/JPlag](https://github.com/jplag/JPlag)
> - Copydetect (Python) — [https://github.com/blingenf/copydetect](https://github.com/blingenf/copydetect)

> **✍️ The part that actually saves the grade — cite + clean**
>
> - Zotero — free reference manager; one click saves a source, auto-builds your bibliography in APA/MLA/any style — [https://www.zotero.org/](https://www.zotero.org/)
> - ZoteroBib — need one quick bibliography, no account — [https://zbib.org/](https://zbib.org/)
> - LanguageTool — free grammar check, 30+ languages — [https://languagetool.org/](https://languagetool.org/)
> - Hemingway — flags sentences that are too tangled to read — [https://hemingwayapp.com/](https://hemingwayapp.com/)

> **🔍 Cite real papers, not blogs — free full-text finders**
>
> - Unpaywall — add-on that finds the legal free copy of any paywalled paper — [https://unpaywall.org/](https://unpaywall.org/)
> - CORE — huge free full-text search — [https://core.ac.uk/](https://core.ac.uk/)
> - BASE — 300M+ docs, better filters than Google Scholar — [https://www.base-search.net/](https://www.base-search.net/)
> - Semantic Scholar — free, gives a plain-English TLDR per paper — [https://www.semanticscholar.org/](https://www.semanticscholar.org/)
> - OATD — 4M+ free full theses, gold for a lit review — [https://oatd.org/](https://oatd.org/)

> **😮 Why this beats paying — stuff you'll actually hit**
>
> - Prof runs Turnitin Monday? Self-check Sunday with Scribbr + Quetext, fix flags before it counts.
> - Source stuck behind a $39 paywall at 2am? Unpaywall pulls the free legal copy in one click.
> - 30-source bibliography due, hand-formatting it? Zotero spits it out formatted in seconds.
> - “Similarity 34%” panic? Usually just missing citations — Zotero fixes the real cause, not the symptom.
> - Broke but need what unis pay thousands for? MOSS/JPlag are the same core tech, free, no cap.

**The one thing to know:** a similarity score is a guide, not a verdict. If it flags something, the fix is a proper citation — not shuffling words around. Cite as you write and the score handles itself.

_Free didn’t mean worse. It just meant nobody told you where the real tools were kept._
