Great tip, but I have a quick question: is this only for those that have a student email, or regular mortal can also apply?

You can put whatever you want. Yes you have to use a Gmail account to register. It’s a Google suite of products and services afterall.

How do I check the space of that folder we get? and How do we prevent the admin of the college not to see our files? Any way?
space is unlimited although there is a file limit of 400000 files
You cannot prevent admin of clg to view your files bcoz they r the owners of TD…
You can encrypt the data then upload to TD if u want privacy

I hv never seen teamdrives get deleted by admins…

To keep your td for a long time you will need to respect the Google rules, just do this and you will have it for a long time.
But if will use it, to big files, to piracy propbabily they will took it from you.
Remeber this service has 2 persons that will see your files the Adm of College and guys from Google.

can you please explain the process, how you did it?
its confusing
enter random or choose any name and put it in "team drive " box
and your gmail id in which you want shared drive that is "your gmail id from where you can access that team drive. tick below option and thats it
you will receive email on your gmail id
and open drive and click on “shared drives”/below my drive
