# \[METHOD\] Get Lifetime Shodan Membership + Premium Features for $0 (Save $49+)

**Sup fam,**

If you are into recon, bug bounties, or just want to see what devices are exposed on the internet, you know **Shodan** is the GOAT. But the free tier is trash (basically unusable), and the “Membership” usually costs **$49 one-time** (and up to **$359/mo** for the good filters).

I’m going to show you how to finesse a **Lifetime Academic Membership** for $0. This isn’t a crack; it’s an official upgrade that gives you API access, more scans, and features regular users don’t even get.

### 🛑 The Requirements

- A working `.edu` email address (doesn’t matter which college).

- 5 minutes of your time.

### 🛠 The Method

**Step 1: Get your Email Ready** You need an academic email. If you are a student, use yours. If you aren’t, you need to “acquire” one.

**Get edu mail from here** :

**Step 2: Sign Up (The Right Way)**

1. Head over to **[Shodan.io/register](https://account.shodan.io/register)**.

2. **IMPORTANT:** Enter your `.edu` email in the email field.

3. Create the account.

**Step 3: Check Your Loot**

1. Once you verify your email, log in.

2. Click on **Account** (top right).

3. Look at “Account Type”. It should say **Academic** or **Member**.

**Step 4: The “Manual Force” (If Auto-Upgrade Fails)** Sometimes the auto-script misses your university domain. If you are still on the “Free” plan:

1. Open your `.edu` email inbox.

2. Compose an email to: `academic@shodan.io`

3. **Subject:** Academic Upgrade Request

4. **Body:**

5. They usually approve it manually within 24 hours. Easy W.

Why bother? Because this unlocks the stuff usually reserved for the $359/mo “Small Business” plan:

- **16 Monitored IPs:** Get alerts if your (or your target’s) IPs change ports.

- **100 Query Credits/Month:** Use the API without hitting limits instantly.

- **100 Scan Credits/Month:** Scan IPs on demand.

- **The “Vuln” Filter:** 🚨 **MAJOR KEY.** Regular “Membership” users ($49) **DO NOT** get this. Only Academic and Corporate users can search by CVE (e.g., `vuln:CVE-2019-0708`).

Just remove the temp edu mails from your main topic and you are good to go. Somehow mentioning those 2 edu mails is MISLEADING.
