As someone who has tried this, unfortunately it doesn’t work. I just reset my Balanced power plan settings to default and it worked great. I have lower temps now. ---

It is reducing cpu speed . if your laptop having turbo booster ,it will off (runs on base speed) therefore heat will reduce but performance decrease and battery life increases . You will Notice while playing high end games or video editing this performance issue when you off turbo boost. ---

Here’s the thing. It’s not helping at all. Reducing CPU ‘speed’ if by which you mean the base frequency of it, makes the CPU and all other components work harder, increasing temp anyway. The best solution is took change the power plan to Balanced. I have low temps now playing games on 1080p than I’ve ever had.
