The [Steam Game Festival](https://store.steampowered.com/sale/SteamGameFestival-Spring) is returning for a spring edition starting today, [featuring more than 40 indie games you can preview with free-to-play demos](https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/18/21184319/steam-game-festival-sale-gdc-2020-indie-developers). The Verge reports: _Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards executive producer and host, first [announced](https://twitter.com/geoffkeighley/status/1240323475945840641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1240323475945840641&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theverge.com%2F2020%2F3%2F18%2F21184319%2Fsteam-game-festival-sale-gdc-2020-indie-developers) the event yesterday on Twitter, saying it was put together to help feature games from indie developers who lost the opportunity to demo their titles at the [now-canceled GDC](https://techcrunch.com/2020/02/28/gdc-has-been-postponed/), which was to take place this week in San Francisco. The Steam Game Festival will run from March 18th to March 23rd. The collection features games from a number of the more well-known indie demo day events, many of which participate every year at GDC. That includes Indie MegaBooth and The Mix, as well as smaller events like Day of the Devs and Wings Fund._

Which means, after the “free-to-play” days, the user is required to buy the game to continue playing?
