Staff notice β 1 September 2026
This topic distributed desktop software that asked members to type their Udemy account username and password into it. Those credentials were sent to a private server run by the poster.
His own statements about that server contradict each other:
βYour Udemy passwords are fully encrypted at rest on the databaseβ β original post
βwhy i need to store users passwords? i donβt store any kind of senstive users info and data!β β post #134
βI have removed the complete database because of some issues, it was storing user info, so I deleted all usersβ data!β β post #165
The same account was separately removed for distributing a credential-stealing browser extension. Full breakdown: /t/325171
If you used this tool, do this now
- Change your Udemy password β and anywhere else you reused it
- Turn on two-factor authentication
- Check that accountβs active sessions and login history
- Uninstall the application
Why it was removed
Never type a real accountβs password into third-party software that offers to βautomateβ that account. Once entered, there is no way to verify what happens to it.
Selling licences and routing members to off-platform payment links is also not allowed here.
