**Summary:**

1. **Announcement of Closure**
The World Wide Web Foundation is shutting down after 15 years of working to make the internet safer and more accessible, co-founders Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Rosemary Leith announced.

2. **Mission Accomplished**
When founded in 2009, only about 20% of the world had internet access. With nearly 70% online today, the foundation believes its mission has largely been achieved, as numerous organizations now advocate for web accessibility.

3. **Thanking Supporters**
The founders expressed gratitude to supporters who helped drive significant progress in improving access and affordability of the web over the years.

4. **Shifting Focus**
The closure comes as the founders highlight new challenges, particularly the social media business model that commoditizes user data, diverging from Sir Tim’s original vision for the web.

5. **Future Plans**
Moving forward, Sir Tim will concentrate on decentralized technology initiatives, including the Solid Protocol, aiming to restore control over personal data to individuals and create collaborative systems.
