**Summary:**

1. **Historic Launch**
SpaceX has launched **LignoSat** , the world’s first **wood-paneled satellite** , to test wood as a renewable building material for future space missions.

2. **Made from Magnolia**
The satellite, weighing just **900g** , features panels constructed from magnolia wood, made using traditional methods without screws or glue.

3. **Durability in Space**
Researchers note that wood is more durable in space due to the absence of water and oxygen, which can cause rot and combustion on Earth.

4. **Future Potential**
The project aims to explore the feasibility of using wood in space construction, potentially leading to sustainable habitats on the Moon or Mars.

5. **Monitoring Space Conditions**
LignoSat is equipped with sensors to observe how its wood panels react to the harsh conditions of space during its six-month orbit around Earth.
