Find the angle
Do not invent one. Look at ads somebody is paying to keep running.
- TikTok Creative Center → top ads — country, industry, last 7 days, sort by click-through rate
- Meta Ad Library — a competitor’s page, filter active ads. Anything alive over a month has a budget behind it for a reason
- Google Ads Transparency · LinkedIn ad library
Write down three things: the promise each ad makes, the first two seconds, and what the person is holding or wearing. That is your brief.
09:40 ·
Write the hook
- Steal These Hooks · viral hooks, refreshed daily · Shortsfire’s library · Swiped video swipe file
- Then break the hook on purpose: pull ten 1-star and 3-star reviews of the competing product with an Amazon review analyzer, and use the customer’s exact complaint as the second half of your line. Ads written that way stop sounding like ads
10:10 ·
Build the stills
- Qwen-Image · FLUX.2 — open weights, product shots with no studio
- rembg cuts the product out, Upscayl makes it sharp, Poly Haven gives you real studio lighting free
11:00 ·
Give them motion
# open models on your own GPU (or a free Kaggle session)
Wan 2.2 · LTX-Video · HunyuanVideo · FramePack · Wan-Animate · Kandinsky 5 Lite
# or skip the models entirely
Vidacious: product URL → 20-second ad · dfirst: AI product shoots
All six model links, plus the hosted free tiers, live in the drawer at the bottom.
11:40 ·
Cut it
auto-editor ad.mp4 --edit audio:threshold=4%
auto-vertical-reframe clip.mp4
burnsub clip.mp4 "hook.srt"
auto-editor kills silence, auto-vertical-reframe turns 16:9 into 9:16 without cropping the product, burnsub burns captions in, PySceneDetect splits long footage into shots.
12:20 ·
Sound and voice
Free TTS for the lines, CC0 music for the bed, and a sound-effect library for the clicks and whooshes. All offline after download, all in the drawer.
12:40 ·
The 5-point check
- hook lands before 2 seconds
- captions burned in, readable on mute
- product visible by second 5
- one call to action, said out loud and written on screen
- shot 9:16, safe margins clear of the platform UI
Five ticks and it is ready to run. No ticks, film it again — this costs an afternoon, not a budget. ![]()

The reply above is now a clearer version, made better by the Core-Community AI.
Great breakdown from TheStrength — the call-sheet approach covers the build. One thing I’d add: the real cost of a $0 ad is in the iteration, not the making. Once you have your first cut, don’t judge it by views alone. Re-export the same video with three different hooks (first two seconds only) and post them at the same time of day across three days. Watch where the retention graph falls off — the platform analytics show you exactly which frame kills it. The ad is only done when the drop point moves past the product reveal. Also, keep every winning hook in a swipe file with the product, the angle and the result; after five or six ads you’ll see your own patterns emerge, and briefing the next one takes minutes instead of an afternoon. Free tools make the ad; a small testing loop makes it convert.
