🤖 Free Claude AI — Stack $600+ in Credits Without Paying a Cent

:robot: Free Claude AI — Every Legit Way to Get Credits Without Paying

API credits, cloud provider loopholes, and the free tier — what actually works and what doesn’t.

Claude’s free tier gives you Sonnet 4 — which benchmarks near Opus on most tasks. Then cloud providers hand you hundreds of dollars in credits for signing up. Stack them right and you’ve got months of heavy AI use at $0.

The people paying $20/month for Claude Pro don’t know half of these exist. But some of these have fine print that’ll waste your time if you don’t read it first.

🎯 Source 1 — Anthropic's Own Free API Credits ($5, But Read the Fine Print)

Think of it as a small tester Anthropic drops into your account when you sign up for the API console. No credit card needed.

How to claim:

  1. Go to console.anthropic.com and create an account
  2. Verify your email
  3. Go to Dashboard → Claim → complete phone verification
  4. $5 in free API credits lands in your account

What $5 buys you:

Model Approx. Input Tokens Approx. Words
Haiku 3 ~20M tokens ~15M words
Haiku 4.5 ~5M tokens ~3.75M words
Sonnet 4 ~1.67M tokens ~1.25M words
Opus 4.5 ~1M tokens ~750K words

:high_voltage: Mix models strategically — Haiku for simple tasks, Sonnet for real work — and $5 stretches surprisingly far.

:warning: What the fine print says:

  • Region-restricted. US phone numbers work consistently. UK is explicitly excluded. Many other countries have variable eligibility — if the “Claim” button doesn’t appear in your dashboard, your region likely isn’t supported.
  • Credits expire in 14 days. Don’t claim until you’re ready to use them.
  • One-time only. One claim per account, period.
  • If you don’t see “Claim” in your dashboard: Your country probably isn’t eligible. This isn’t a bug — Anthropic restricts this by region. Try the other sources below instead.
☁️ Source 2 — Google Cloud Vertex AI ($300 Free Credits)

Think of it as Google handing you a $300 gift card that works on Claude. New Google Cloud accounts get $300 in free credits — and Claude runs on Vertex AI.

How to claim:

  1. Create a Google Cloud account at cloud.google.com (requires a card for verification — won’t be charged)
  2. $300 in credits activates automatically for 90 days
  3. Enable the Vertex AI API in the console
  4. Enable Claude model access in the Model Garden
  5. Use Claude Opus, Sonnet, or Haiku through Vertex AI — charged against your $300 free credits

What $300 buys you:

Model Approx. Usage
Sonnet 4 ~6,000+ full conversations
Haiku 4.5 ~30,000+ quick tasks
Opus 4.5 ~2,000+ complex sessions

:high_voltage: This is the single biggest free Claude source available. $300 on Vertex AI is months of heavy usage. Most people never realize Google Cloud credits work on third-party models like Claude.

:warning: Fine print: Card required for verification (won’t charge unless you exceed $300). Credits expire after 90 days. You need to manually enable Claude model access in the Model Garden — it’s not on by default.

🟠 Source 3 — AWS Bedrock (Free Tier + Startup Credits)

Amazon Bedrock hosts Claude models, and AWS offers some free access for new accounts.

Free tier access:

  1. Create an AWS account at aws.amazon.com
  2. Navigate to Amazon Bedrock in the console
  3. Request access to Anthropic Claude models (approval is usually instant)
  4. Some models include limited free tier usage for the first 12 months

:warning: Honest reality check: AWS’s free tier for Bedrock is more limited than Google’s $300 Vertex AI credit. The free tier gives you access to certain models with usage caps — not a blanket $300 credit. Read the current Bedrock pricing page carefully before assuming it’s equivalent.

The real AWS goldmine — AWS Activate (startups):

If you have any kind of startup, side project, or business entity, AWS Activate offers $1,000 to $100,000+ in credits. These cover Bedrock → Claude.

  • Self-serve tier: $1,000 in credits. Requires a basic company/project website.
  • Portfolio tier (via accelerators): $25,000-$100,000+. Requires acceptance into an AWS partner accelerator.

:high_voltage: Stack this with Google Cloud. Run Claude through both Vertex AI and Bedrock — two separate credit pools funding the same AI.

🆓 Source 4 — Claude.ai Free Tier (Zero Setup, Zero API Needed)

Not everyone needs API access. The free tier at claude.ai gives you direct access to Claude Sonnet 4 — no payment, no API key, no phone number needed. This works worldwide.

What you get free:

  • Access to Claude Sonnet 4 (handles coding, writing, analysis)
  • Projects feature (upload files, maintain context across conversations)
  • Web search capability
  • File and image uploads

Limits:

  • Usage cap resets every ~5-8 hours
  • No access to Opus models (Pro/Max only)
  • No extended thinking mode

How to stretch it:

  • Time your usage around reset windows
  • Use Projects to store context instead of re-pasting documents each session
  • Save complex tasks for fresh reset windows when you have full capacity

:high_voltage: Sonnet 4 handles 90% of what most people use Claude for. Unless you specifically need Opus-level reasoning or extended thinking, the free tier is shockingly capable. And unlike the $5 API credits — this has no region restrictions.

💡 How to Stack Everything — Maximum Free Tokens
Source Credits Card Required? Expires? Region Restricted?
Anthropic API signup $5 :cross_mark: No 14 days :warning: Yes — US mainly, many countries excluded
Google Cloud Vertex AI $300 :white_check_mark: Verification only 90 days No (global)
AWS Bedrock free tier Limited :white_check_mark: Verification only 12 months No (global)
AWS Activate (startups) $1K-$100K+ :white_check_mark: Varies No (global)
Claude.ai free tier Unlimited (rate-capped) :cross_mark: No Never No (global)
Student programs $100-$5,000+ :cross_mark: No Varies Varies

Strategy:

  1. Start with claude.ai free tier for everyday use — works everywhere, no setup
  2. Sign up for Google Cloud — $300 in Vertex AI credits is the biggest single win
  3. Create an Anthropic API account — claim the $5 only if your region is eligible and you’re ready to use them within 14 days
  4. Sign up for AWS — free tier access + Activate credits if you have a project
  5. If you’re a student — apply to everything (Anthropic programs, Google Education, AWS Educate)
  6. Use the cheapest model that works — Haiku for simple tasks → Sonnet for real work → Opus only when you genuinely need it

:high_voltage: Prompt optimization tip: Shorter, specific prompts consume fewer tokens. A well-crafted 50-word prompt often gets better results than a 500-word one — and costs 10x less. Use prompt caching (90% savings on repeated system prompts) and batch processing (50% discount) when working through the API.

⚠️ What Won't Work — Avoid These Traps
Trap Why It Fails
“Unlimited free token” tools from random sites Scams, phishing, or reselling stolen API keys
Sharing API keys Anthropic monitors for abuse. Shared keys get revoked.
Creating multiple accounts for the $5 credit Phone verification prevents this. Duplicate accounts get flagged.
Third-party “token multiplier” services Most are API gateways that add markup, not savings
Assuming $5 credits work everywhere Region-restricted. If the Claim button doesn’t appear — your country isn’t eligible. Don’t waste time troubleshooting.
Expired promos The $50 Opus 4.6 credit promo required a Pro/Max sub by Feb 4 + Extra Usage enabled by Feb 16. It’s over. Promos come and go — don’t chase dead ones.

There is no $5 anthropic credit ( don’t try this guys)

Thank you for wasting my time

The $5 credit is real but region-locked — US phone numbers mainly, a lot of countries are excluded and the Claim button just doesn’t show up. Post has been updated with a proper warning about this + the other sources that work globally (Google Cloud $300, claude.ai free tier). Appreciate you flagging it :handshake:
