I used two phone

Let say phone A contains only a screen shot of my student id.

Phone B is where I am logged into GitHub education application portal

With phone A I took screenshot of my student id and used phone B to capture the screenshot of my student id which is in phone A to provide proof when I was prompted to take a picture in the process of application.

I used two phones because there is no upload option in the GitHub application portal only take a shot or picture.

Make sure while taking the shot all the details of your student id should be clearly visible or seen.

It got denied!

  1. I was using OBS virtual camera mode and looks like it has detected that.
  2. I have just now added the billing information.
  3. The image you selected does not appear to contain your school name: (Which document should i share now? i was sharing the UMGC Admissions Letter on the virtual camera?
  4. Your document does not appear to include a date demonstrating current academic affiliation. (No idea, what document should i show)
  5. You are unlikely to be verified until you have completed your GitHub user profile (I just name renamed it to the application like i had earlier!)

Can you help on these questions?

  1. Should i turn on my camera and show those documents (Which means, i have to print it and keep it in hand)
  2. Since i live in India, should i share location with US or even India is fine?
  3. What document should i show them? (Admission Letter), i dont see upload images option anymore.
  4. I verified the email on github, is it all needed?

OBS Studio Virtual Cam + Image = Success. Also, before you take a screenshot of the Student ID, change the text “2026 xxxx Graduate” to “Issue Date: 2/11/2026” using inspect element and then take the screenshot

If you mean in GitHub student pack application there is no need because you will be prompted to share location before continuing with the application. So in this case VPN is useless.

As for me I did not use VPN during application process.

Try to login using your Mobile phone Gmail app.

Make sure you have downloaded and install Duo mobile app from the play store and have setup Duo 2FA for secure login.
