@Aina yes, it works!

Note:
“Your 5GB home directory will persist across sessions, but the VM is ephemeral and will be reset
approximately 20 minutes after your session ends. No system-wide change will persist beyond that.”

So technically Google Colab is better choice then.

U can do basically everything on it which u can do on Linux. It also allows root
Also @Aina 5GB is just persistent storage total storage is 50GB
And Persistent means data will remain on it permanently and not wipe out after each session
Rest 45GB data u stored will be wiped after each session
And each session can last upto 12 to 13 hrs
Also there is some hrs quota per week
I hv been using it for a while now

Google collab and gcp shell both r different with different functions
Both r useful in their own way and both provided by Google for free for usage upto a certain limit

Noob Question
Can I host Python script here that runs daily at the scheduled time?
If No then what is the solution to run the script at a specific time daily for free other than Google cloud Console.

My response can relevant you can’t run scheduled scripts inside Google Cloud shell machine. or Google Colab. so use Github/Gitlab actions to schedule and run your scripts at any time.

it has session limit, one session lasts upto 12 to 13 hrs, and has some quota limit.

You cannot run shell related scripts continuously due to security threat. None host will permit that. ( of course we talk about legal ones)

Debian is
Called “Stable” for a reason
Massive software selection
Wide architecture support
Solid documentation
Huge community

But the problem is GUI is not rich as other Nix distros. So if you are beginner level Linux user Debian is not a good choice to start. You should know commands and usage of terminal. So it’s not newbie friendly.

However, it has a HUGE library file support means super rich app support.

So you should consider Google’s this service as a school and improve yourself and do all tests at your shell acc
