When we hit 500, I’ll pick 1 winner. No date pressure, no spam, just building it up.
🛡️ Windows screams when you open it? Here's why + the 30-second fix
Windows shows a blue SmartScreen warning when an app is brand-new — basically Windows going “I don’t know this guy yet”. It’s not a virus warning. Big software companies pay Microsoft to skip this step (called code signing — like getting your name on the bouncer’s list). I haven’t paid that fee yet because I’m one guy launching a free app.
Three ways to get past it, pick whichever:
Option 1 — Easiest
SmartScreen popup → click More Info → click Run Anyway. Done.
Option 2 — Unblock the file first
Right-click the .exe → Properties → tick Unblock at the bottom → Apply → run.
Option 3 — Turn the warnings off entirely (only if you want to)
Windows Security → App & Browser Control → Smart App Control → switch to Off.
