Step 1: Visit the Website
Head over to https://www.fidoalert.com using your browser.
As soon as the page loads, you’ll notice a big red button right on the homepage that says:
“Get Your Free Pet ID & Tag.”
This is your starting point, so go ahead and click that button.
Step 2: Sign Up for an Account
Once you click the button, you’ll be redirected to the Sign Up/Register page.
- Fill in your details like your name, email, and password.

After signing up, you’ll automatically move on to the next step.
Step 3: Add Your Pet
Now that your account is set up, you’ll see a blue button that says:
“Add a Pet.”
Click on it, and you’ll be taken to a form where you can fill out details about your pet, including:
- Name
- Breed
- Age
- Color/markings
- A photo of your pet (optional but highly recommended!)
Take your time here and ensure all the information is accurate. This is crucial for identification purposes if your pet ever gets lost.

Step 5: Complete the Process
Once you’ve completed the shipping information, your free Pet ID & Tag will be on its way! ![]()
Additionally, your pet will now be part of FidoAlert’s Lost Pet Community Alerts system.
If your pet ever goes missing:
- You can immediately create a lost pet alert on their website.
- The alert will notify their network and improve your chances of being reunited with your pet.
Why This is a No-Brainer for Pet Owners
Losing a pet is every owner’s worst nightmare. Dogs and cats are constantly reported lost or even stolen, so having an ID tag can significantly increase the chances of getting them back.
While this freebie isn’t flashy, it’s incredibly useful and can give you peace of mind. A simple tag with your pet’s information can make all the difference in a stressful situation.
Pro Tip
If you have multiple pets, repeat the process for each one! There’s no limit on how many pets you can register.
