Hey Brothers and Sisters, is there a possibility to know really the provider of a professional domain email as [email protected]. so help me please i’m here waiting
Using your email client, see if you can view the ‘Full header’ or ‘All headers’ of an email. Sometimes the Received: from… line can give you an indication of which service the sender is using.
Just do a WHOIS Search, Domain Name, Website, and IP Tools search and check DNS records. The MX records will indicate email hosting provider.
If you know the domain the company uses for email, you can find out who is hosting it by looking up its MX records (or use the “A” records, if those don’t exist). Several command-line tools and programming libraries exist for this purpose ( e.g. “dig” and “dns4java”). There is also a free, web-based tool at www.mxtoolbox.com, if you’d like a pretty GUI.
As an example, the first MX record for forum.telugudjmusic.com is aspmx.l.google.com, which shows that our mail is hosted by Google.
If the provider is not evident from the MX records (much more common for ESPs than ISPs), there are two other sources of clues:
- Connect to the mail server and see what it says. You can either doing this by telnet’ing to port 25 of one of the servers advertised in the MX records, or using the free, web-based tool, here: http://mxtoolbox.com/diagnostic…. Google, again, identifies themselves–this time, with the line: “250 mx.google.com at your service”.
- Try a “whois” lookup at domaintools.com. Returning again to our example domain, entering the first MX record for forum.telugudjmusic.com, aspmx.l.google.com, shows a whole lot of Google. ( N.B. With this method, you might be getting the contact information for the company’s ISP, rather than for the company, themselves).
Another way might be to look at the tracked URLs that are sent from the ESP – as they all have unique structures, it’s possible to tell that email A was sent from a different ESP than email B; but unless you are somewhat familiar with the ESP URLs, it might be super helpful.
For example, As Ros can confirm (or deny if I’m just wrong), Campaign Monitor sends from .createsend.com, and Mailchimp sends from *.list-manage.com, etc., with the * being related to the company of those ESPs URLs.
