🏴‍☠️ The free-tier bible — rent-free servers, GPUs, storage, data, mail and domains

:shopping_cart: No bills, no trials, no card — 51 things the internet normally charges for

Card asked for, nothing charged · figures off the vendor’s own label · opened 7 Oct 2026

Every button pays out. The slot is taped over for a reason.

The ten with the biggest allowances

  1. Oracle Always Free — 2 OCPU / 12 GB ARM, 10 TB egress a month
  2. Kaggle — 30 GPU hours a week
  3. Cloudflare R2 — 10 GB, egress free
  4. Cloudflare Pages — unlimited bandwidth
  5. Turso — 500M rows read a month
  6. Grafana Cloud — 50 GB of logs
  7. Tailscale — unlimited devices
  8. EU.org — a free subdomain: your DNS, a few days’ wait
  9. catbox — 200 MB a file, permanent
  10. SDF.org — a shell account since 1987

:coin: What people pay for these, and where they pay $0

a 2-core VM                   $5-12/mo   ->  $0
object storage with egress    $5-9/mo    ->  $0
a managed Postgres            $15/mo     ->  $0
30 GPU hours a week           $50/mo     ->  $0
2,000 CI minutes              $0.008/min ->  $0
                            coin slot: taped over

:hammer_and_wrench: What actually lands the Oracle box

Three pollers that keep trying until your ARM box lands:

Oracle’s own pages: go Pay-As-You-Go and the free box stays uncharged · try another availability
domain and leave the fault domain unpinned · an idle box gets reclaimed.

Half of what is folded below is not on that list at all.

Bookmarked instantly. The “card asked for, nothing charged” notes are honestly the most useful part of this shelf — that’s the bit every other free-tier list glosses over, and it’s exactly where people get burned.

Kaggle’s 30 GPU hours a week carried my first model experiments, so I can vouch for that one — the phone verification was a one-time annoyance, worth it. And the Oracle reclaim warning is real: mine got taken back once after I let it sit idle for a week, so now I keep a tiny cron job poking it.

One suggestion: maybe add a setup-effort note per service? Some of these (looking at you, EU.org’s multi-day wait) have a hidden time cost you only discover mid-signup. Anyway, this is a gem — thanks for putting it together!

signup is minutes almost everywhere — the days sit in DNS and human review

fastest: Let’s Encrypt, 2–10 seconds · slowest: EU.org, 4 days to 3 weeks
