A school passes your note to the family. One office, one route.
Office numbers and hours from the four schools’ own pages · October 2026
Two facts set the route: which school, and which mailbox.
“Northwood, USA” is four schools — Ohio, North Dakota, Iowa and Maryland. Four offices, four opening hours.
Your mail reads as unauthenticated — school filters quarantine unknown senders before a person ever sees them.
The route: front office → guardian. Ask the office to pass your note on; it reaches the family while their details stay theirs.
Phone, 8:00–9:30 their time
Hi — I'm writing to the family of [name].
I'm not asking for their details.
Could I send a short note for you to
forward to the parent or guardian?
Send the note to the office, addressed for the family
Subject: note for a parent
Plain text, with the words doing the work.
Please forward this to [name]'s
parent or guardian. — [your name]
Then the fax. Three of the four offices publish one, and FaxZero sends to any US number free from the browser.
Paper lands in the office tray while email sits in a quarantine queue — an urgent week is exactly when that gap matters.
📇 The four Northwoods · get out of quarantine · who to ask for · what the law allows
Four schools, four offices
Ohio and Maryland run on Eastern time, North Dakota and Iowa on Central — convert before dialling. The Maryland office also publishes a separate attendance line: 240‑740‑6951.
Through the filter
- send from an address with a little history
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC passing — run the address through mail-tester
- plain text, zero links, zero attachments
- a plain subject line in normal case
- address the office mailbox, which reads every day
- ask, in the first line, for your address to be allowed
Four people, in this order — front office → attendance office → school counselor → principal → district office. The attendance office already speaks to families every single day, which is why it routes a note fastest.
If the town is still unknown — NCES school search lists every public school by name, town or district, with its office number.
What a school may share — education records stay closed to outsiders, directory details aside; a school can relay your note without confirming anything about the student (FERPA). Every legitimate route ends at a guardian.
Right town, right office, one note to a guardian.
