While trying to post this, it showed some similar solved questions and I checked them but they’re not helping. So, can anyone help with this? Please stop saying Gumroad because their minimum payout threshold is $100 and it’s just not attractive for beginners in digital products who want to actually make 10 sales for the first time and earn atleast $50. And please do tell what sells like pancakes or specific things that will definitely sell tomorrow or in a few days/less than a week on publishing a digital product today.
I haven’t tried it myself, but you can try PayHip. Or if you want a marketplace that has a lot of users, you can use Etsy.
WordPress with woocommerce plugin
I do use PayHip, and Ko-Fi, they’re good but I wonder about other free store sites or free marketplaces with lots of traffic, no listing fees, no sudden bans, etc., like what if there are good sites I don’t know about.
My advice is, if you’re getting sales, then don’t worry about what ifs. You can also ask AIs help. Ask it to recommend you platforms based on your requirements and I’m sure you might get multiple suggestions. I always do that when I want to find something new.
Yeah, but I don’t want to deal with WordPress and plug-ins. I’m not sure how to explain it right now, just that I’m waiting for better alternatives.
Upload a digital file (PDF, template, prompt pack, preset…), price it, get paid — $0 to open, no payout minimum, cash lands instant.
Ranked inside by who skims the least off each sale ![]()
Nothing here is exclusive — list the SAME file on every free shop at once. One build, ten shelves, ten times the chance to get found.
Inside: the shop that lets you set its cut to 0%, autobuy bots that deliver while you sleep, marketplaces with buyers already in them, and how to actually get paid outside the US.
💳 Free shops, ranked by who keeps the least of your money
| Shop | Cut (free plan) | Payout | The edge nobody mentions |
|---|---|---|---|
| itch.io | YOU set it, 0–100% (default 10%) + card | instant or batched | the only platform where you can set the cut to 0% · no file-type limits · real buyer discovery for templates/assets/ebooks |
| Payhip | 5% (Plus 2% / Pro 0%) + card | instant, no min | 13 payment gateways incl. Razorpay/PayU/Flutterwave = actual local rails · PDF stamping + license keys built in |
| Ko-fi | 5% sales / 0% tips + card | instant, never held | paid straight into your PayPal/Stripe, zero hold, zero minimum |
| Fourthwall | 5% digital + card | monthly, $25 min | free plan treats digital as first-class + is a merchant-of-record (handles your tax) |
| SellAuth | ~0% on crypto | crypto instant / direct | free autobuy — auto-delivers files & license keys 24/7, 15+ gateways, routes around dead banking |
| Lemon Squeezy | 5% + $0.50 | weekly, $50 min | merchant-of-record: kills global tax + eats chargebacks so your PayPal doesn’t |
| The Leap · Big Cartel | 0% / free ≤5 products | varies | The Leap = free AI product builder + link-in-bio store · Big Cartel free for ≤5 items incl. digital |
card fee = the ~3% Stripe/PayPal take on every platform on earth — unavoidable, stop hunting for it.
Don’t waste time on these:
- Sellfy “free” plan literally blocks digital files (merch/POD only) — real digital = 14-day trial → $19–29/mo.
- Beacons free plan skims 9% a sale (0% only on the $30/mo tier).
- Stan Store has no free tier — $29/mo after a trial.
- Sellix / Sellpass — DEAD. Sellix was seized by the FBI/Europol in Jan 2025; Sellpass paused and is rebranding to Antistock. Any 2024 guide naming them is stale. Autobuy successors still running: Sell.app, SellAuth, Sellup, Billgang.
🛒 Shops that come with buyers already inside (list free, pay only on a sale)
No audience yet? These already have people searching to buy. You list for free; they take a cut only when something sells — that higher cut is just rent on borrowed traffic.
| Marketplace | Their cut | Best for | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy | $0.20/listing + ~6.5% | templates, planners, printables | buyers literally come here to buy |
| Creative Fabrica | 50% (25% via your link) | fonts, SVGs, craft, clipart | shows you its trending search terms → design to match |
| Design Bundles | you keep 75% (50% via affiliate) | design assets, fonts | $5 min price, non-exclusive, bundle invites = big exposure |
| Creative Market | you keep 70% | premium design goods | $20 payout min, non-exclusive |
| Whop Discover | ~2.7% + $0.30 (old 30% cut dropped May '25) | courses, communities, memberships | ~4M monthly visitors · crypto payouts |
| Gumroad Discover | 30% on Discover sales (10% direct) | any file | merchant-of-record now; 30% applies even to traffic you send to a Discover listing |
Also worth applying to: Envato/GraphicRiver, So Fontsy, Fab (Epic Games — 3D/game assets). Stricter approval; verify current splits.
🗂️ Make it once, sell it forever — what actually sells
Before a week of work: drop the idea in a relevant community or check if the search term’s already saturated — if it is, niche down (not “planner” but “ADHD meal-prep planner”). Then build ONE thing:
Sells in 24–72h
| File | Price | Build | Niches that move | Home |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI prompt packs (50–100) | $5–15 | 2–4h | ChatGPT job-interview · Midjourney logos · Claude book-writing · IG captions | Payhip·Etsy·Ko-fi |
| Notion templates | $5–25 | 3–6h | student tracker · freelancer client board · creator calendar · finance · job-app tracker | Etsy·Payhip |
| Canva templates | $5–20 | 2–5h | IG story pack (20) · LinkedIn carousels · YT thumbnails · wedding suite · real-estate listings | Etsy |
| Resume/CV | $5–15 | 2–3h | ATS-friendly (survives the auto-scanners HR runs) | Etsy |
Sells in 3–5 days
| File | Price | Build | Niches |
|---|---|---|---|
| Excel/Sheets | $7–20 | 3–8h | budget · biz income/expense · analytics dash · meal-plan+grocery · invoice+earnings |
| Short ebooks (5–20pg) | $5–12 | 1d | “$100 on Fiverr” · “pass any interview” · “30-day IG growth” · “flip FB Marketplace” · “freelance copywriting” |
| Printable planners (PDF) | $3–10 | 2–4h | daily+habit · meal-prep · ADHD task · self-care journal · 90-day goal |
| Digital stickers (PNG) | $3–8 | 3–5h | GoodNotes/Notability — iPad note-takers buy nonstop |
Sells within a week
| File | Price | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Caption templates (30–100) | $5–12 | real-estate IG · fitness coach · restaurant |
| Freelancer starter kit | $10–25 | contract + invoice + questionnaire + proposal |
| Stock photos / AI art | $5–15 | Etsy · Creative Market |
| Mini course (vid/PDF) | $9–19 | “Notion dash in 1h” · “edit Reels in 10min” → Payhip·Ko-fi·Whop |
🥷 Sell with NO store at all — straight off Telegram, Discord, or a link
You don’t even need a storefront. Lock a file behind a checkout link or a bot and let it auto-deliver:
| Method | How | Why it’s slick |
|---|---|---|
| Telegram autobuy bot | AiogramShopBot — free, open-source · cart + crypto top-up (BTC/LTC/SOL/USDT) + auto-delivery + Docker | a 24/7 shop inside Telegram, 0% marketplace cut |
| Discord + SellAuth | SellAuth checkout → auto-role + auto-deliver file/key | the standard stack for template/gaming communities |
| Link-in-bio + embed | Carrd/Linktree/Stan → embed a Payhip or Lemon Squeezy buy-button | full checkout, no real “store” |
| Cloud link + checkout | Mega/Drive file locked behind a Payhip/Ko-fi checkout | dead simple, $0 |
| WhatsApp Business catalog | catalog → checkout link → instant delivery | slept-on, huge in non-US markets |
| GitHub Sponsors + private repo | sponsor → repo access | clean for devs selling code/tools |
Telegram caps files at 2GB — host big files on a cloud link and deliver the link, not the file.
📡 Empty shelf = $0 — where the buyers actually come from
Setup first: keyword title + 5+ preview mockups + price $5–7. Then same-day:
| Channel | Move | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 5 real tips in r/Notion, r/digitalplanning, r/freelance, r/ChatGPT, r/sidehustle → link last | value post = 20–50 clicks/hr · link-drop = instant ban | |
| 3–5 pins of the preview | indexes in Google (shows in search) within days, feeds traffic for months | |
| Faceless TikTok/Reels | niche account, show the file working 30s → link in bio | no face needed · 200 views → 2–5 sales |
| Quora / Reddit answers | answer a buyer’s exact question, your file = the resource | catches people the moment they’d buy |
| X/Twitter | thread → “full pack → link” last | retweets spread it free |
| FB / Telegram / Discord | rules first, value + soft drop | niche communities = warm buyers + instant re-shares |
Uncommon edges:
- Cross-list the same file on itch.io + Payhip + Creative Fabrica + Gumroad at once (all non-exclusive) — one build, many discovery surfaces.
- Free version as bait → capture emails → sell the paid version to that list.
- Ride trends — seasonal templates + fresh-AI-tool prompt packs (PromptBase + Gumroad) move fastest while the trend is hot.
- Listing SEO — match exact search keywords in titles/tags; Creative Fabrica literally shows you its trending searches.
Day 1 → make 1 file · upload to 2–3 free shops · 1 Reddit post · 1 TikTok
Day 2 → 5 Pinterest pins · 2–3 FB groups · reply every comment
Day 3 → Reddit/Quora follow-up w/ examples · Telegram drop
Day 4–7 → post daily · double down on whatever source paid
Etsy + Pinterest take 1–3 days to index — set them first, hit Reddit/TikTok while they warm.
🪙 Price it so they can't say no + the fee math nobody shows you
| Stage | Price |
|---|---|
| 0 reviews | $5–7 (no hesitation at this price) |
| 5 reviews | $12–15 |
| 10 reviews | $20+ |
Bundle: 3 × $7 alone → all 3 for $15 (reads ~57% off, most grab it).
Real take-home — the headline % always lies, because flat $0.30–0.50 + card fees stack on top:
| Sell | 10 sales | In pocket |
|---|---|---|
| prompt @ $5 (Payhip) | $50 | ~$46 |
| Notion @ $7 (Payhip) | $70 | ~$64 |
| Canva bundle @ $10 | $100 | ~$92 |
| anything @ $10 (Gumroad) | $100 | ~$79 — Gumroad’s “10%” is really ~13–21% on cheap items |
Canva mockups make a $5 file look like $50 · ask your first 3 buyers for a review — proof compounds.
🌍 Getting PAID outside the US (the part guides skip) + keeping your files yours
The payout rail matters more than the fee. Where the money actually lands:
| You’re in | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| India | Payhip + Razorpay | full UPI / PhonePe / Paytm, instant INR, you get the whole amount |
| India (backup) | Gumroad | pays India PayPal in USD only — no Stripe/Payoneer/Wise |
| Anywhere, hate tax admin | Lemon Squeezy / Paddle / Whop | merchant-of-record files your global VAT/GST ($50 / $100 payout min) |
| Broken local banking | SellAuth / Telegram bot | crypto (USDT/BTC/LTC) skips banks entirely |
Stop your PayPal getting frozen. Digital goods are a high-chargeback category. Run sales through a merchant-of-record (Lemon Squeezy, Paddle, Gumroad, Fourthwall, Whop) so they carry the chargeback risk, not your personal account.
Keep your files from getting pirated (free/built-in tools):
| Platform | Protection |
|---|---|
| Payhip | PDF stamping (buyer email on every page) + download limits + license keys |
| Lemon Squeezy | full license-key API (activate / validate / limit devices) |
| Gumroad | license keys for software (no PDF stamping) |
| SellAuth | auto serial/key delivery per sale |
🧭 Skip the overwhelm — which one's actually for you
| You are… | Do this |
|---|---|
| Total beginner, no audience, $0 risk | itch.io (set cut to 0%) + Payhip + Ko-fi — same file on all three. Drop a free version as bait. |
| Design / font / craft seller | also list on Creative Fabrica + Design Bundles — borrow their built-in buyers. |
| Have a Discord / Telegram / social | SellAuth or a Telegram autobuy bot, or link-in-bio + Payhip embed. Push with faceless short-form. |
| Selling worldwide / want tax gone | merchant-of-record: Lemon Squeezy, Whop, or Fourthwall. |
| In India | Payhip + Razorpay (UPI). Crypto (SellAuth) as backup. |
When to upgrade: past ~$967/mo → Payhip Plus (2%) · past ~$3,500/mo → Pro (0%). Bringing 100% of your own traffic → drop the % platforms for a flat-fee / own-checkout setup.
🎯 Where this quietly prints money
- One afternoon → a Notion budget tracker. Same file lives on itch.io + Payhip + Ko-fi + Etsy at once. Built once, sells while you sleep.
- That 50-prompt pack you’d hand a friend for free? $5 × 10 strangers this week ≈ $46. No stock, no shipping, nothing to break.
- You already made your own resume in Canva — strip your name, sell the template. Job market never closes, so it sells 24/7.
- A printable planner is one PDF “shipped” 500 times for $0 each. Every sale after the first is pure margin.
- One Pinterest pin posted today feeds buyers for months. Set it, forget it — the traffic runs itself.
- A Telegram autobuy bot takes the order, the crypto, and delivers the file at 3am while you’re asleep.
Make it once. Copy it for $0. Stock every shelf — the storefront, the marketplace, the bot. A file has no inventory and no closing time; the only ceiling is how many shelves you bother to stock.
