I was wondering if what technology was used to create this forum. From what I assume, they are building this using Ruby on Rails. If it’s not Ruby, what technologies is used to create this site ?

Well! you are right @darekingdom and discourse is a open source platform. they have even provided github link to their source code. check it out here https://github.com/discourse/discourse and its under GPL (General Public License) .
This onehack is an awesome forum and it always motivated me to create something like this for my organization too.
maybe I’ll learn ruby and then try to create such amazing fourm like this. will be a contributor to onehack team by requesting them maybe soon or sooner.
Onehack.us was one of my first forums on Internet and I absolutely love it. Posts are legit and even moderators are kind, helpful and swift fast.
I hope to contribute to Onehack too after I’m capable.
