May I ask a question, How can I use torrent/magnet file from my HDD (that I’ve downloaded before) ??
At line :
link = “…” # PASTE TORRENT/MAGNET LINK HERE
which link will be added on “…” ? Thanks
Wow, this is great!
I never thought of using Google Colab this way. Basically they provide Linux(Ubuntu), So we can run any command line tool using ! in jupyter notebooks, therefore we can simply run tools like youtube-dl, wget, axel, etc to download anything directly to GDrive.
Although I prefer using it for ML!
You can, use your local torrent client, for example in qBittorrent there is option to copy magnet link on right click(not sure about others though). Or you can use online torrent to magnet converters.
link = “…” # PASTE TORRENT/MAGNET LINK HERE

I think you can use both magnet link and torrent link(i.e .torrent download link )
Sorry for my unclear question, I mean, how can I add torrent/magnet file from my HDD into this command line ? what is syntax for torrent/magnet file from local PC? Thanks
You can directly put the magnet link in the script.
If it is a torrent file, you can upload it on fillesend.jp and put the download link from there in the script.
I have modified code. Please follow this to upload ‘.torrent’ file and then download it
Step 1: create torrent directory on vm to store torrent file (this will be visible in file panel on left side)
!mkdir torrents
%cd torrents
Step 2: code to upload torrent files, create another code block and enter:
from google.colab import files
torrent = files.upload()
torrent_filename = list(torrent.keys())[0]
Step 3: In ‘code to download torrent’
1. first comment 'link= ’ statement by adding #
# link = "https://yts.lt/torrent/download/866BDCFA006930A718ADBC21D8CAE1F2C7F9D8B3" # PASTE TORRENT/MAGNET LINK HERE
add follwing above or below it:
ti = lt.torrent_info(torrent_filename);
link = lt.make_magnet_uri(ti);
Now run this blocks of code in sequence, as guided by @Dracaryu

I too have my doubts, may be the reason is we are storing the files on My Drive, instead we should move them to Shared Drive, but we can’t cant move folders to shared drives, google drive does not supports it, if any one can tell how to move folders to shared drives, it will be a great help.
what will happen to that shared drive, if they disable the G drive??
Will it exist?
can you explain in more detail I tried while (handle.status().state != lt.torrent_status.seeding)
by this
while (true)
but It didn’t worked and showing some errors
I added a torrent and it got downloaded , but after sometime , a/c was banned . it’s been few days since I created that a/c . I think I’ll create a new one .
which college account??
@Xtreme
Sorry but I don’t have Gsuite edu account!
And I don’t know how to create shared drives ![]()
But try changing My Drive with Shared Drive name.
'save_path': '/content/drive/[shared drive]/Torrent/'
Note: See file window on left side, if it is showing drive then copy its path and paste above!
Santa Monica College
try Los rios college That said @SaM on the unlimited GD solution thread.
Ok…I’ll try
