Windows shows a blue SmartScreen warning when an app is brand-new โ basically Windows going โI donโt know this guy yetโ. Itโs not a virus warning. Big software companies pay Microsoft to skip this step (called code signing โ like getting your name on the bouncerโs list). I havenโt paid that fee yet because Iโm one guy launching a free app.
Three ways to get past it, pick whichever:
Option 1 โ Easiest
SmartScreen popup โ click More Info โ click Run Anyway. Done.
Option 2 โ Unblock the file first
Right-click the .exe โ Properties โ tick Unblock at the bottom โ Apply โ run.
Option 3 โ Turn the warnings off entirely (only if you want to)
Windows Security โ App & Browser Control โ Smart App Control โ switch to Off.
