Is there any free PDF tool that allows me to edit PDFs for windows
Just pirate any from 1337x.to
Better than any website
Yo!
There was a post about this some time ago. The whole software family is called ArtCraft. It is sort of a clean-room implementation vibe coded Adobe and Microsoft software legal copy. It is fairly functional, but not exactly the same thing. The Adobe Acrobat equivalent is called PDFCraft. They are covered here:
Seven free programs that do Adobeβs job β ArtCraft, plus nine more to install today - Tools & Scripts - OneHack a.k.a 1Hack
Hope it helps!
Your edited PDF looks different because the font isnβt on your PC β the PDF itself already carries it.
You donβt need a better editor β you need the font already in the file.
Free it once, and the edit turns invisible.

Do this in one minute
- Install a free editor β PDFgear (Windows, no sign-up).
- Click the text and type over it. Most documents use fonts Windows already has β Arial, Times, Calibri, Segoe β so it matches right away.
- Still looks different? The font isnβt on your PC β free it from the file.
Free it from the file
- Download MuPDF (a small free zip), unzip it.
- Drop your PDF in that folder, run
mutool extract your.pdfβ a new.ttfappears, named after the font object (e.g.font-0001.ttf). - Double-click it β Windows shows the whole alphabet β click Install.
Now any free editor types in that font.
| Free editor (Windows) | What it does | Price |

| KillerPDF | one portable exe, OCR inside | $0 |
| PDF24 | offline suite | $0 |

π The out-of-the-box door β a PDF is code
A PDF page is a list of drawing commands. Unpack it and your sentence is sitting there as plain text:
mutool clean -d in.pdf out.pdf β open out.pdf in Notepad β find (Name: HAMZA) β change it β mutool clean -gggg out.pdf fixed.pdf
The font object is untouched β not βlooks the sameβ, is the same. Nothing readable in Notepad? That file stores glyph codes β use the minute path above.
Fun side-door: drop the .ttf on fontdrop.info to see every letter the font holds, laid out as cards.
π Why it still looks off β the four liars
- Colour β sample an existing letter, never the white paper (print-black and screen-black differ).
- Size β copy the pt number from the font box, donβt eyeball it.
- Spacing β replace the whole line, the old one is kerned letter-by-letter.
- Baseline β stay on the same line, then nudge by 0.1 pt.
Scanned page (no font at all)? ocrmypdf --output-type pdf in.pdf out.pdf writes the text back in first β ocrmypdf.readthedocs.io
For simple text edits on Windows, I would start with a free desktop editor rather than an online converter, so your file stays on your own computer. Try one tool first on a copy of the PDF, and check whether it lets you edit the existing text directly instead of only adding a new text box over it. If the PDF is scanned, run OCR first, because an editor cannot edit text that is only an image. Keep the original file untouched until you have opened the edited version and checked the fonts, spacing, and page layout. That quick test usually shows whether a free tool is enough for your file, or whether you need a different approach for that document.
