I have my number registered with Amazon, but they blocked my account. I once read that it could be removed from that account and recovered on another one from the same company, but that was years ago when I read that in an e-book. Is there any solution for this? :,c
Do not close the account. Amazon’s own forum: “Closing an old account won’t free up your phone number — you need to gain access to the old account to remove the number.”
First, one test: open Forgot password. The code goes to the phone in your hand. Blocked is not the same as locked out.
If you get in — 60 seconds
Account → Login & Security → Edit next to the phone → any other number → Save.
Freed the moment it saves. Borrow any line; you are not keeping it there.
Stuck on the code?

Says “account on hold”?
Account on Hold form — Amazon’s own line: faster than phoning, and support will only tell you to do this.
If you can’t get in — appeal the ban instead
Since 2024 Amazon must run a free appeal against account suspensions, and an independent body reviews it if they refuse.
1. DSA Article 20 — free electronic appeal, open 6 months from their decision. The wording: Amazon “shall reverse its decision without undue delay” where the conduct did not warrant the measure.
2. Article 21 — outside body, online, 90 days, Amazon pays the fees if you win.
ADR Center dispute form — platform list includes Amazon Services Europe, reason list includes suspension of user accounts, works in Spanish.
All certified bodies · Amazon’s DSA page
3. Ignored? Article 53 — complain to your country’s Digital Services Coordinator. Free.
Check these four before you file
• EU only, or a substantial connection to the EU
• Their decision must have reached you within 12 months
• You must have complained to Amazon first — the form makes you confirm it
• Word it as “my account was suspended, I want it reinstated” — not money, refunds or deliveries, those get rejected
Decisions are not binding, but Amazon must engage in good faith and answer in writing.
🚫 Skip the GDPR deletion request
Danish data protection authority, January 2022: a user with a blocked account demanded erasure of his data. The company refused — it needed the record to detect new accounts by the same person. The regulator sided with the company. The UK ICO says the same: blocklists are lawful, erasure is not absolute.
The reason you want it deleted is the reason they may keep it.
The one case staff can actually fix: the number was recycled by your carrier and the old account belongs to a previous owner.

Amazon also links accounts by device, card and address. A new account on a freed number can still be pulled into the old ban — reinstating the original is the stronger outcome.
Every link works on any Amazon domain: swap .com for .es, .mx, .in. The nodeId stays the same.
