Airtable runs two separate currencies. Referral credits pay the bill. AI credits run Airtable’s own AI. You cannot convert one into the other — Airtable says it plainly: you can’t earn AI credits, only buy them.

Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste:

Then just talk to it:
“Build me a content calendar: content, campaigns, channels, team members, production tasks — all linked. Pull my last 20 blog posts in. Then make a dashboard with calendar, kanban and timeline views.”
It scaffolds the tables, the links, the interface. That’s the official server’s current tool set, not a wish. 
The three things that break it
❶ “It’s not working” — you reloaded instead of restarting.
Claude Desktop reads connectors on a full startup only. Quit the app completely and reopen it. This single missed step is behind most failures.
❷ You’ll be told to install a package that doesn’t exist.
Popular tutorials tell you to put @anthropic/mcp-server-airtable in your config. That package returns 404 on npm. It was invented by an AI and copied everywhere. The real community one is airtable-mcp-server (needs a personal access token) — but you don’t need it, the hosted server is easier and does more.
❸ It has write access, and it uses your permissions.
It can delete records. Point it at a scratch base first, or connect with a read-only account until you trust it. Workspace admins can block third-party integrations entirely.

The traps in the referral credits
Earned on Free, they expire in 90 days unless you upgrade to Team
They are not auto-applied. You must manually transfer them to a workspace before billing
Transfer is one-way: account → workspace. Never back
Business and Enterprise Scale accounts can’t earn or use them at all
When farming actually pays
Only if you want Airtable’s own AI at volume. Then the numbers are real:
Buy credits outright 10,000 credits = $20/mo
Team plan 15,000 credits = $24/mo ← more credits, and you get the plan
Team is strictly better value than buying credits alone — 50% more credits for $4. And every referral is $10 off that bill, so roughly 3 referrals = a free month of Team = 15,000 AI credits and it rescues your credits from the 90-day expiry.
On the farming itself: referrals must be genuinely new users who accept and verify. Temp-mail domains get rejected, existing accounts don’t qualify, self-referrals fail, and credits already granted can be pulled back along with your account. Three real invites beat fifty fake ones that vanish.
