📦 Microsoft 365 E5 + the Whole Free Stack

Right :slightly_smiling_face: — ‘getting it back’ just means dragging usage back under the 300 GB line; there’''s no switch to raise the cap on a trial tenant, sadly. What actually freed mine, in order of impact:

:locked: Killed the retention / Purview policy → that empties the hidden Preservation Hold Library, which was quietly hoarding a copy of every deleted file (almost always the #1 hog).
:wastebasket: Emptied the second-stage recycle bin + trimmed version history (old versions get billed, adds up fast).
:bust_in_silhouette: Force-purged deleted users’‘’ OneDrive — they linger ~93 days and still count otherwise.

Heads up though: it’''s not instant — pooled usage only recalculates every ~24–48h, so the read-only lock lifted a day or two after I was back under the line, not right away :+1:

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
:warning: Just so we’‘‘re clear (the guide’’‘s storage section says this too): there’''s no trick to push a trial tenant above 300 GB — Microsoft killed that (10 GB/user, 300 GB pool, 0 GB add-on). So “storage back” only ever means back under the cap. The real prize here is the software + 25 licenses, not the drive :+1:

The same problems arise here. I have researched this sometimes and found the result that the E5 developer subscription is based on many tenants so some one tenants use too much cloud storage that’s this problem occurs. So we can’t do anything; just delete the huge file, also clear the recycle bin and wait some time.

Nah I know that what I meant was i had 5TB in onedrive. I thought someone figured out a way to extend this also, but it seems Microsoft changed their policies.

The 300GB limit has been removed now! Enjoy 5TB Again.

Any chance you know how to get around their throttling error page?
Recently I’ve been able to access the One Drive again but it never fully loads, it just shows used storage amount but no content . Sometimes it doesn’t even get that far and I’m hit with a page stating throttling
