⌜ Pokéshot — Gotta snap 'em all! ⌟

Pokéshot is now LIVE on the Chrome Web Store — free, no account, and it never sees your screenshots.

A fast, 100% private screenshot tool + editor, built for 1Hack:

  • Snap a full page, a region, or the visible screen — one tap each.
  • Edit on the spot: draw · text · arrow · circle · crop · blur/redact (an irreversible mosaic baked over passwords, keys, faces, card numbers).
  • Save as PNG · JPG · PDF (the PDF can keep a real, selectable text layer), copy to clipboard, or keep a searchable, wipe-anytime history.

Everything happens on your device — Pokéshot holds zero website permissions and ships with no networking or telemetry code at all, and you can verify it live from the menu (“see the proof”: a permission x-ray + a network log showing 0 bytes out).

  • Missing a feature? Reply and tell us — we’ll fold it into the next update.
  • A website that’s hard to screenshot? Drop the link (and what breaks) and we’ll add support for it in the next update.

Missing the save as editable pdf feature wich mayn other similar aps have.

@western_duplek done :white_check_mark: — it lands as an automatic update within ~48h (nothing to reinstall; if you have Pokéshot installed it just updates itself), then set the save format to PDF and switch ✎ editable on: your text stays selectable and your arrows, circles and pen stay editable shapes instead of being flattened into the picture. :bullseye:

Could you add backgrounds to screenshots? Mockups- even better. I’m trying the current version, looks neat, thanks!

Thanks Marie, glad it feels neat! :raising_hands: Heads-up though — the version you’re on is a fair bit older. We’ve just pushed a new update with even better bits — you should see it land within 48 hours, so keep an eye out.

On the backgrounds/mockups — could you tell us a little more about what you’re picturing (even a quick example)? Then we can build exactly what you have in mind.

I tried it on my browsers Arc and Chrome and it works well, thanks for the update!

On backgrounds, I meant like a padding, a background which supports custom colours in hex codes and custom background image. For the mockup, I meant a realistic or illustrated frame/mockup like a laptop, e.g, Macbook, Acer, etc. for full-screen screenshots (this would need a transparent background or white/custom colour/image too).

:megaphone: Heads-up — a more powerful & robust update lands within 4 days. Don’t miss it! Already installed Pokéshot? Nothing to do — it auto-updates for you. :raising_hands:

:megaphone: It’s here. The new Pokéshot just went out — it arrives within ~48h as an automatic update (already installed? nothing to do, it updates itself). :raising_hands:

@Marieyour backgrounds made it in! :bullseye: Open any shot in the editor → Frame:

  • Background: a custom colour (any hex), 6 ready-made gradients, or upload your own image
  • Padding (S/M/L), rounded corners and a drop shadow — so a bare shot looks finished

On the laptop/device mockup — we decided against it. A fake MacBook/Acer shell is mostly decoration: it eats space, dates fast, and doesn’t make the shot any more useful. So instead we added a real browser Address bar — it shows the page’s actual URL (domain or full) with a genuine SSL lock, light or dark. You get that clean “real page” look without faking a device, and it’s honest.

:page_facing_up: Editable PDF (as promised, @western_duplek) — one important thing: this is not OCR. We do not scan or “read” the text inside your screenshot — OCR would be a hard no here: it typically ships your image off to a server (that breaks the whole nothing leaves your device promise), and it guesses the letters, so it gets things wrong. Instead, the text you type and the arrows / circles / pen you draw are saved as a real, editable layer in the PDF — so later, in any PDF app, your text is still selectable, a typo is still fixable, and your shapes are still movable. The screenshot stays the picture underneath; only your markup stays live. :white_check_mark:

Also in this build:

  • :high_voltage: Tougher full-page capture — trickier sites now stitch clean, top to bottom
  • :sparkles: Editor polish + a one-tap “see the proof” privacy page you can run yourself

Thanks for the push, Marie — genuinely made this one better. :raising_hands:

Thanks for this beautiful update! :tada:
