why is there no interoperability between mobile wallets

It’s too risky to link wallets together with out some crossover of permission rights to the accounts. I’m certain that we will see it soon enough though! Time will tell!
I believe if e-wallets want to keep the steady growth they need to reinvent the system. Like UPI came in India and now there is almost no use of e-wallets. Similarly, UAE is working on the UPN system. Interoperability between wallets in different countries can help in seamless cross-border payments
