Got you covered. First things first — the Surfline Y855V is actually a MiFi router (portable WiFi device), not a phone. It creates a WiFi hotspot using a SIM card. Surfline locked it to their network, but unlocking it is a one-time thing that takes about 10 minutes.
Quick IMEI check — your IMEI 884482021298802 might have a typo. Every Y855V IMEI starts with 864482, not 884482. Double-check it on the sticker under the battery or on the back of the device. If the IMEI is wrong, the unlock code will be wrong too — and you only get 10 tries before the device locks you out completely.
The unlock code is a 10-digit number called an NCK. It’s unique to your IMEI — no two devices share the same code.
Fastest free method — Hovatek Forum:
They give you 6 codes at once — NCK, NSCK, SPCK, SIM, C, and “Other.” You only need the NCK to unlock. But save the “Other” code — that’s your emergency backup if you enter the wrong NCK too many times.

| Where | How It Works | Speed |
|---|---|---|
| DeblokGSM Calculator | Enter IMEI + model, it calculates the code | Instant — but doesn’t work for all models |
| sim-unlock.blog | Comment with your IMEI, team replies | 24–72 hours |

Once you have your 10-digit NCK code:
Step 1 — Take out the Surfline SIM card. Put in a SIM from a different network (MTN, Telecel, or AT Ghana — any will work).
Step 2 — Plug the Y855V into your computer using the USB cable. Wait for it to install drivers automatically.
Step 3 — Open any web browser and type this in the address bar:
192.168.1.1
This opens the device’s settings page.
Step 4 — It will ask for a password. Type:
admin
That’s the default password for all Y855V devices.
Step 5 — Click the Connection tab. You’ll see a box labeled “NCK” with a message showing how many attempts you have left (out of 10).
Step 6 — Type your exact 10-digit code into the NCK box. Click Apply.
Step 7 — Go to Settings and click Reboot. The device restarts. Done.
This is permanent. You never have to do it again. Every SIM card will work from now on.
Almost everyone hits this wall. The device unlocks successfully, but it won’t connect to the internet with the new SIM. That’s because Surfline’s software blocks you from setting up a new network profile — there’s no APN field anywhere.
The fix is simple — you upload a small configuration file that restores the missing settings.
Step 1 — Download the Alcatel Y855V configuration BIN file from RouterUnlock and unzip it.
Step 2 — Connect via USB. Go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser and login with admin.
Step 3 — Click Settings → System.
Step 4 — Find “Configuration file management.” Click Choose file and pick the BIN file you downloaded.
Step 5 — Click Restore. The device restarts.
Now you can create a new profile. Here are the APN settings for Ghana’s main networks — they’re all the same:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| APN | internet |
| Username | (leave blank) |
| Password | (leave blank) |
Works for MTN, Telecel (formerly Vodafone), and AT Ghana (formerly AirtelTigo). Create the profile, hit Connect, and you’re online.
| Don’t Do This | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Guessing random codes | Each wrong code eats one of your 10 attempts. At zero, the device locks permanently and asks for an RCK code instead |
| Using ‘free unlock generators’ from random websites | These are scam sites that give you wrong codes on purpose. They waste your attempts and some harvest your IMEI for fraud |
| Skipping the BIN file after unlock | Device unlocks but can’t connect to any network. People think the unlock failed — it didn’t, you just need the config file |
| Using DC-Unlocker | It does NOT support Alcatel modems at all. Many blogs say it does — they’re wrong. Don’t waste money on credits |
If you already used all 10 attempts: You need the RCK code (labeled “Other” in the Hovatek code set). Post on Hovatek and specifically ask for the full code set including the “Other/RCK” code. Enter that first — it resets the counter back to 10 attempts.
The Y855V is a solid portable WiFi router with a fat 3,000 mAh battery (lasts 6+ hours). Once unlocked, it’s not just a MiFi anymore:
Use it as a backup internet source — Pop in a data SIM and keep it charged. When your main internet goes down (DSTV router issues, MTN fiber outage), you’ve got instant backup WiFi for up to 10 devices.
Travel with it — Going outside Ghana? Buy a local SIM wherever you land and you have instant WiFi for your phone, laptop, and tablet. No roaming charges.
Share one data plan across all your devices — Buy one MTN data bundle, put the SIM in the Y855V, and connect your phone + laptop + smart TV all at once. Cheaper than buying separate data for each device.
Sell unlocked units — Locked Surfline devices are basically worthless (Surfline shut down in 2023). Unlocked ones sell for GH₵100–150 on Jiji and Tonaton. If you know people sitting on locked Surfline MiFis, offer to unlock them for a small fee — the unlock code is free from Hovatek.
Set up a small WiFi hotspot business — In areas with bad coverage, an unlocked MiFi with a good data plan can serve a small shop or study area. People pay GH₵1–2 to connect for an hour.
