Surfshark VPN’s Premium DNS — Free, No Account, No BS
Surfshark accidentally left their premium DNS wide open. No login. No subscription. No credentials. Just a URL and you’re running encrypted DNS like a paying customer.
What This Is (Dead Simple Version)
Every time you visit a website, your device asks a DNS server “hey where’s google.com?” — and normally your ISP sees every single one of those requests. They know every site you visit. Every. Single. One.
This fixes that. Your DNS requests get encrypted so your ISP sees absolutely nothing.

That’s it. That’s the whole thing. One URL. Premium encrypted DNS. For free.
Why This Is Awesome
For People Who Don't Know What DNS Even Stands For
-
Your ISP is watching you right now. Every website you visit — they see it. They log it. They can sell it. Encrypted DNS makes that list go blank.
-
No VPN needed. You don’t need to install anything heavy, connect to servers, or deal with speed drops. This is lighter than a VPN but covers one of the biggest privacy holes most people don’t even know exists.
-
Zero credentials. No email. No password. No signup. No “free trial that asks for your credit card.” Copy the URL, paste it, done.
-
It’s Surfshark’s own servers. Not some random sketchy DNS provider you found on a forum. This is infrastructure built by a company that charges $13/month for their VPN. You’re just using the DNS part for free.
-
Works on everything. Phone, laptop, tablet, router, smart TV — if it connects to the internet, you can point its DNS here.
-
Faster than your ISP’s DNS. Most ISP DNS servers are slow garbage. Premium DNS providers are optimized for speed. You might actually notice pages loading faster.
How to Set It Up
Browser — Chrome / Brave / Edge
- Settings → Privacy and security → Security
- Enable Use secure DNS
- Select Custom
- Paste:
https://dns.surfsharkdns.com/dns-query
- Done. Every DNS request from this browser is now encrypted.
Browser — Firefox
- Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll to bottom
- Enable secure DNS using → Max Protection
- Choose provider → Custom
- Paste:
https://dns.surfsharkdns.com/dns-query
- Press Enter. You’re set.
Android

- Select Private DNS provider hostname
- Enter:
dns.surfsharkdns.com
- Save. Every app on your phone now uses encrypted DNS.
iPhone / iPad
Needs a DNS profile or an app like DNSCloak — iOS doesn’t let you type in DoH URLs natively.
Easiest method: download a DNS profile generator, enter https://dns.surfsharkdns.com/dns-query as the DoH server, install the profile, done.
Windows 11
- Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi or Ethernet
- Click Edit next to DNS
- Select Manual → enable IPv4
- Enter any placeholder IP (Windows requires one)
- Under DNS over HTTPS → On (manual template)
- Paste:
https://dns.surfsharkdns.com/dns-query - Save.
Quick Reality Check
What This Does and Doesn't Do
| Encrypts your DNS queries | Hide your IP address |
| Stops ISP from seeing what sites you visit | Replace a full VPN |
| Works without any account | Block ads or trackers |
| Speeds up DNS resolution | Encrypt your actual browsing traffic |
Think of it as locking one specific door that most people leave wide open. It’s not a full security system — but it’s a door that really, really needed a lock.
