How to sync two google drives

I have two google suite accounts with two different status domains and I want to sync them just to make a backup to restore in case a status domain gets deleted.

Don’t tell me there are website to do that. I’ve tried them and they all are trials.

Any better way than that if you guys know? Any help or reply is appriciated.

I’ve used this script a few times…

Thanks! Do these folders stay in sync?

Sadly not, the script only copies the data to another GD account. I am sure there are plenty of tools for sync. I’ve used Syncovery (Windows) to sync 6Tb across multiple storage providers (including 3 GDs).

Does it support fast server side transfer (doesn’t use your Internet bandwidth)?

I have the software but I hv never gotten around to using it.

Cheers!!!

It does not, it uses your bandwidth if you run it locally. I usually do the initial transfer via the script above and run Syncovery real-time sync on a vps. Set and forget. Most vps providers offer 3-5Tb monthly bandwidth these days. It all depends how much data you produce every month…

Hey, does rclone use data to sync??? I mean it exhausted my 2 gb daily data limit without even syncing 500 mb! Wtf?

No it doesn’t use your bandwidth. From where to
where did you copy and did you use any custom flags to tell it to run a server flag copying?

And btw now I remember that I had given “copy remote” command which appears after “rclone config” command just to check what happens. Did it cause the damage?

Your best bet is rclone through copy or sync command with custom flags.

Yes, just got acquinted to it, and it’s awesome. I am using sync command to sync bw two GDrive. The total storage to be transfferd is 99 GB. However, it’s syncing really slow! Any workaround? I used simple command rclone sync GDrive1:/ GDrive2:/

It is very fast. I get up to 900mb/s even. I copied about 500gb of my TD files into another TD in just over an hour. Perhaps you have a lot of single/independent files scattered around in your drives.

No, I just had run simple command to sync rclone sync GDrive1:/ GDrive2:/

I remember I had run a command woth a flag (i don’t remember as I had followed someone guideline on internet) but i it was just for some progress display or something.

Btw, should I try syncing once again? Are you sure it won’t consume my personal data again?

Add the following after your rclone command:

--drive-server-side-across-configs -P

This will hep to ensure you don’t use your bandwidth and show you progress of your tasks.

Cheers!!!
