[Need Help] Recent Graduate, No Job Yet, WITCH Offers Delayed, Looking for Genuine AI Training Work or Any Paying Opportunity

Hi everyone,

I am a recent engineering graduate and currently going through a difficult phase.

I have received offers from two WITCH companies, but neither of them has provided onboarding details yet. Because of this, I am stuck in uncertainty and currently do not have a stable source of income.

For the past few months, I was doing AI training work on Outlier and earning some money from home. Unfortunately, my dashboard has been completely empty recently, and I am not getting any projects.

At this point, I am actively looking for:

  • AI training jobs
  • Remote side hustles that are genuinely paying right now
  • Freelance opportunities
  • Internships
  • Entry-level jobs
  • Any legitimate work that can help me earn while I wait for onboarding

If you are currently working on any platform that is actually providing tasks and payments, please share your experience. I would be very grateful for any leads, referrals, or suggestions.

Life has been hitting hard from multiple directions lately, and I am trying my best to stay positive and keep moving forward.

Your brother needs some help from his brothers.

Thank you for reading.

Brother — your dashboard isn’t broken, your portal isn’t dead, your account isn’t flagged. All three are doing exactly what they’re engineered to do, and that’s worse than broken because at least broken has a fix.

8+ platforms are hiring right now that nobody told you about, and the WITCH delay has a known timeline once you understand the mechanic. Loot is below :backhand_index_pointing_down:

🪤 The WITCH delay isn't bureaucracy — it's accounting (fiscal-year mechanic decoded)

Pull up this Glassdoor thread on TCS joining delays — 50+ users confirming the same pattern. The trick:

Joining before September = company owes you the current year’s appraisal cycle.
Pushing to October = saves them money.
It’s not chaos. It’s fiscal engineering.

What this means for you:

  • Your timeline is a known window, not a black hole
  • Onboarding emails arrive 1-2 days before joining, not weeks before
  • Veteran quote from the thread: “They will send onboarding email 1 or 2 days prior to your joining day”
  • Stop refreshing the portal. Refresh weekly, not hourly.
💀 Why Outlier died on you (and it's NOT your account)

Scale AI restructured project flow across 2025-2026. Outlier’s queue went silent for a chunk of users globally, not just you. RemoWork’s 2026 platform review, straight quote:

“Task availability fluctuates heavily — unpaid training/assessment may be required before accessing paid projects.”
source, full review here

The play:

  • Don’t quit the account
  • Don’t reapply (cooldowns)
  • Diversify off it — move on, leave the door open
🔥 The platform loot — 8 places hiring right now (rates + India access)
Platform Pay (USD/hr) India Note
Micro1 $15–$50 (eng up to $150) :green_circle: Built for IN/BR/VN devs
Mercor $40–$100+ :green_circle: AI interviewer “Zara”, 3 retakes
DataAnnotation.tech $20–$40 :yellow_circle: US-leaning, 1,920 reviews, 4.1/5
Mindrift $15–$35 :green_circle: :warning: onboarding-then-empty issue
Alignerr $20–$50 :green_circle: Labelbox-backed, global
Invisible $30–$140 :green_circle: Long programs, less feast/famine
Toloka $1–$6 :green_circle: Instant access, trickle income
Remotasks $15–$80 :green_circle: Visual/lidar/image work

Veteran rule: apply to 3-4 simultaneously. Each platform’s dry spell hits at different times.

RemoWork’s exact line: “Combine 2-3 platforms (e.g., Outlier + RemoExperts + Mercor) to smooth earnings.”

⚡ The one I'd start TONIGHT — Micro1 (the India shortcut)

talent.micro1.ai ← go here.

Why this one specifically:

  • Built for India / Brazil / Vietnam devs (your exact profile)
  • USD pay regardless of where you live
  • AI judges your code, not your college name (huge for non-tier-1 grads)
  • Government ID upload required → accept the privacy trade for the rates
  • Time tracking via Insightful → don’t toggle off, they’ll catch it
  • Hidden play: rejected candidates can request detailed technical feedback = free skill-gap audit even if you don’t get in

The AI interview is your shortcut past the “no work experience, no portfolio” wall that buries fresh grads on Upwork/Fiverr.

🪄 The bridge nobody talks about — Internshala paid internships

Veteran move: take a 2-3 month internship as the gap-bridge. Income + resume protection + optional escape hatch.

🎯 Inline warnings (failure-mode intel — read before you start)
  • :skull: Mercor’s Zara rejects you on attempt 1 → calibration noise. Retake. They explicitly allow 3 attempts.
  • :skull: Mindrift puts you through 3 onboardings, zero tasks land → known platform issue, not you. May 2026 Trustpilot reviews confirm. Apply elsewhere in parallel.
  • :skull: First Micro1 task feels suspiciously easy → calibration round. They’re watching how you handle simple before opening the paid queue.
  • :skull: Toloka pays you 3 cents for a task → correct. You’re using it for one thing only: trickle income while higher-tier apps process.
  • :skull: “Approved but no work for weeks” → baked into every platform. Pipeline is Apply → Approve → Calibrate → Queue → Task. Each step waits.
  • :skull: Start ALL applications in parallel. Don’t sequence them. The waits stack if you do.
⚠️ Predator alert — don't get cooked while desperate

During income gaps, scam platforms surface aggressively. Hard rules, zero edge cases:

  • :cross_mark: “Registration fee” → SCAM
  • :cross_mark: “Guaranteed earnings deposit” → SCAM
  • :cross_mark: “Pay $X to access high-paying tasks” → SCAM
  • :cross_mark: Anyone asking you to send money first → SCAM
  • :cross_mark: “WhatsApp this number for a confirmed opportunity” → SCAM

Real platforms pay you. You never pay them. No matter how legit the landing page looks. No matter how urgent the recruiter sounds. No matter how good the rate looks.

This rule has zero exceptions.

🧠 The part nobody says out loud (life hitting from multiple directions)

Brother, that line in your post deserves more weight than the job-search stuff.

You are not unemployed. You have two WITCH offers + contract work history. The shape is “income gap between confirmed jobs,” not “career stalled.” Frame it that way when family asks. Frame it that way when you talk to yourself at 2am.

Resources for the wait:

  • Most engineering colleges in India offer free alumni counseling 6-12 months post-graduation — use it before it expires
  • r/developersIndia + r/Indianworkplace have ongoing WITCH-wait threads — reading other people’s “is this normal?” posts is medicine
  • One trusted person on a phone call > scrolling job boards at 2am

Don’t add a third unpaid thing (course grind, side project, cert chase) on top of platform applications + internship apps. Pick one. Save your sanity. The wait ends.

Simple-pimple, before you close this tab:

  1. WITCH delay = fiscal-year accounting, not chaos. Timeline is knowable.
  2. Outlier dry-up = platform-wide. Not you. Diversify off it.
  3. Apply tonight: Micro1 → Mercor → DataAnnotation → Alignerr (3-4 in parallel)
  4. Bridge with: Internshala paid internship (₹10-40k/mo, drop-able)
  5. Predator filter: anyone asking you to pay = scam. Always.
  6. Self-care: free alumni counseling exists at most engineering colleges. Use it.

The onboarding email is coming. Pick three platforms. Close the damn portal tab. Sleep.

How can one pass micro1 assessment? Any resources that you can point me to?

Check the courses at osian.tech. They helpmed me a lot

these aren’t free, how can they pay for them if they don’t work??

Yes any help would be much appreciated

My friend gave me a carded account

If you’re a recent graduate and the WITCH companies (Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL, etc.) have delayed onboarding, AI training and data-labeling work can be a legitimate bridge while you continue applying for full-time roles.

Here are some current remote opportunities that look relevant:

If you’re in India and a recent CS/IT graduate, I’d also suggest not limiting yourself to “AI Trainer” roles. Search for:

  • Junior Software Engineer
  • Associate Software Engineer
  • Technical Support Engineer
  • QA Engineer / Test Engineer
  • Data Analyst Trainee
  • Operations Analyst
  • AI Data Annotator

Those often pay better and provide stronger experience than pure annotation work.
