Seeking Guidance on Scholarships / Work Opportunities Abroad (CS Engineering Final Year Students – India)

,

Hello everyone,

I’m currently in the final year of my BSc (Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering, with graduation expected around November this year. I’m now actively planning my next step and would really appreciate genuine guidance from people who have gone through this path.

My Current Situation

  • Final-year Computer Systems Engineering student

  • Graduation expected in November

  • Exploring Master’s, PhD, research roles, or industry jobs abroad (Primary Focus study and money.)

  • Interested in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Networking

  • Planning to complete CCNA certification before applying, especially for networking-related roles

My Main Goal

I’m looking to move abroad (preferably to an English-speaking country) for either:

  • A research-based Master’s or PhD, or

  • A strong applied Master’s program with labs, internships, and industry exposure

Long-term, I want to build a stable career and potentially settle abroad.

What I’m Specifically Looking For

I’m not just looking for a degree — I’m looking for real academic and professional growth, including:

  • Strong research exposure (RA/TA opportunities, faculty-led projects, publications if possible)

  • Applied programs with hands-on labs, real-world projects, and industry collaboration

  • Universities with strong professor outreach systems and research groups I can actively join

  • Access to a strong academic and professional network, not just coursework

  • Programs that offer scholarships, assistantships, or stipends where possible

  • Clear pathways into internships and job markets after graduation

In simple terms, I’m looking for a place where I can actually build skills, work with professors, and grow into research or industry properly — not just collect another “degree certificate.”

What I Need Help With

I would really appreciate advice on:

  1. Best countries for affordable or fully funded Master’s/PhD programs in CS/IT

  2. Scholarships, assistantships, or funded research programs worth targeting

  3. Whether a research-based route or industry/job route is more realistic for someone in my situation

  4. How to approach professor outreach (emailing supervisors, finding labs, getting recommendations) in a genuine and effective way

  5. How to find legitimate professor emails, research groups, and universities that actively take international students into labs

  6. Skills, certifications, or project work (like CCNA or others) that can improve my chances significantly

I’m open to learning from real experiences rather than consultancy-driven advice, as many consultancies tend to push countries based on commission rather than suitability.

If anyone has been through this journey or is currently studying/working abroad in CS/IT, your insights would be genuinely appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time and guidance.
